To get to this castle, number 1 on my list, we had to take the bus to Stonehaven. Well we are not bus people so it took us a bit to figure out how to get to the bus station which turns out is about a block from our hotel (insert face palm). We were totally clueless and got off the bus at the wrong place.  If the weather and been nicer we could have walked from Stonehaven but it was pouring down rain so we sucked it up and took a taxi. Short ride later we are dropped off at the castle parking lot and away goes our taxi.  We turn to walk through the gate and ... the castle had been closed due to the weather. Ahh! No.  The very nice gentleman at the gate said we could walk out there if we wanted but it was really windy. We did not figure out the bus system just to turn around so we started walking. It was absolutely pouring so we ended up just drenched but we did get a little bit close. We got to the end of the path where the steps are and Christy refused to go down them so I continued without her.  I made it about 20 steps and turned back. Those steps were a lake!

Then we called for the taxi to pick us up and we took the train back to Aberdeen.  Much quicker journey. We dried off, had dinner and bought umbrellas.  Of course it's windy too, so my umbrella decided to turn itself inside out but I fixed it.

Back at the hotel we were exhausted so we went to bed about 9pm.
